A PICTURE SPEAKS A THOUSAND WORDS......

I woke up one day this week and after 'all protocols have been observed', I started one of my fav pastimes i.e. nosing through contacts on my Blackberry and Whatsapp contacts list!
Looking at my own profile and frowning at necklace I'd worn in my DP (display picture), it looked a bit crooked and I'm thinking to myself, I could have used a better pic (yes I know, vanity upon vanity, all is vanity!!)

I continue to scroll taking it all in, one pic of someone looking really 'fit' all that gym activity is paying off!, another and I'm thinking 'Haba, this girl don yellow finish, which cream she dey rub?' Next is the scene of a leafy destination birthday party everyone wearing fedora hats, pouting, with their tummy's pulled in and another of an old acquaintance that has lost a lot of weight, I look at the pic and wonder what diet is she on now? Cabbage soup, Atkins or the 5:2 fasting diet? We have a few happy couples looking into each others eyes dreamily, ever so obvious they are in love and then I scroll further down the list. I have a few mysterious contacts with no pics at all or if there is a pic it's just a random image like of a flower, dog or cat and I'm thinking, but why? What's the point in that? Give us a glimpse into your life now!!
(I now brace myself for the awkward moment when I wake tomorrow morn and notice I have no Blackberry or Whatsapp contacts, as you guys have either blocked or deleted me!!!)

Anyway, I continue to scroll through for something that catches my fancy, 'ah-ah what's this?' I sit up in my bed, adjust myself, squint at screen and zoom in, it's the image at the top of this post. I start to ponder.....

And what does Good Friday mean to you?

Squatting is when someone deliberately enters property without permission and lives there, or intends to live there!!! This is sometimes known as " Adverse Possession".

Iya Ibeji why are you squatting here?? Now that I have marked you present as 1st to post comment today, would you now kindly go back 'read' the post and answer question I posed there?
You may thank me later Xxx

I know it is Good Friday, but I'm not fasting, please don't shortchange me. (Oga Rashidi, e ma chance mi)
Forgive my French but this half blog is known as "C---us int----us"

    Ha!Ha!Ha! Laughter in English.

    Happy Good Friday ya'll.

As Christians we all celebrate the birth of Christ (Christmas) and are morose at Easter.
I have always found that theology flawed. Christ's death is what gives us life not his birth. Surely we should rejoice that he "drank of the cup, although he had prayed in his humanness( is that even a word) for the cup to be taken from him)

Instead we get the mourners out to join us in our mourning a death that gives us eternal life and sorrow as them that have no faith

  13. No pics or random images on a blackberry or wattsapp profile is akin to people who post as "anonymous" on a blog. Me thinks.

I want to believe your "less is often more" concept is a precusor to the fact that "agbo to fi eyin rin, agbara lo lo muwa". For those that can't read yoruba as I cannot effectively translate, Please google the meaning.

  15. Frejon. My my, one easter dish I have totally forgotten. Easter was never Easter in my house without frejon. Nobody liked it but year after year a faithful aunty brought over her beautiful bowl of frejon.
I wonder what it was my mother said to her that made her make it for us year after year.

  17. Good Friday means a lot to me. It’s a day for me to reflect on the passion of Christ. A day of celebration in which I honour the sacrifice of Christ with every sense of gratitude and humility. This day calls to mind an event that was necessary for salvation and the redemption from eternal death that is hell. The events that took place that Friday gives me faith that I can live eternally.

  20. Generally, that l am alive and God has given me the opportunity to correct the mistakes of yesterday for a better tomorrow.
However, today being a Good Friday reminds me of Christ undying love and that because He lives, l can face tomorrow. Kirk Franklin's song - You don't have to worry and don't be afraid... no matter what may come my way, my life is in Your hand; comes to mind today. Happy Easter

  22. Sis Risi, kilo happen o! You usually write more than this. I can tell you were contemplating on the meaning and significance of Good Friday. For me it is one the most important days in my walk with Christ. The salvation of my soul is based on what Christ did for me personally and millions of others. Without his death and his resurrection on Sunday my life will be incomplete.
Good Friday also in my home and family means Frejon and spicy fish stew. Hard work but it is well worth it as we end up sharing with others. BMW

  23. Well after a very tough few working weeks,I was really looking forward to the long weekend. I woke up early and decided to read your blog and comment before Arinze slams open his bedroom door! Roll on approximately 1 minute later, I was fiddling with my tablet as I could not locate the 'read more' link! Then briefly looking thru the comments,I realise the blog was finished!!!!!
I felt like someone who had been looking forward to a hot dinner date, only to be told at the end 'let's go Dutch' Your excuse being 'Less is more'!!!!!? My response to that is 'SIZE MATTERS'!

  26. E ka ro o. E ku iwaju o. E ku Odun o. (Greetings). I am ever so grateful and thankful when I go to bed in the night and grateful and thankful when I wake up in the morning.

Good Friday to me is another day off work. I don't have to rush to the station to catch the 7 45 train and I am not accountable to anyone as to how i spend this day.

I am however respectful of this day. This day means a lot to Christains. Is Good Friday the day that Jesus rose from the dead?. A day of celebration, a day of fish and frejon, a day of reflection. excuse my ignorance, I am a Muslim.

Whatever you do enjoy the two extra days off, celebrate, reflect, off we go again on TUesday. Never ending cycle. Happy Easter to all.
