Fear not, I've not lost the plot I'm not about to start 'cussing' you guys out!! I appreciate your custom. Don't you just love it though? We've seen it too often many times, blog author gets carried away and feels they are in their comfort zone so they start to cuss out their readers!'
There's a particular Naija blogger, one Aunty based in Germany, she has this habit of getting rather 'verbal' with her readers, there is nothing she will not say when her readers 'express their opinion' she's not happy with, she literally goes for the jugular! When she's yapping them she says she's 'having a rant', but still has quite a few readers. In fact when she's finished yapping her blog visitors they will even usually start pledging their allegiance to her and assuring her, that they are all 'forever loyal to her government!!
On a slow news day she'll post a random question and ask her readers to have a rant about any topic they choose!! Mind blowing isn't it? Then all of them will start; the aggrieved wife, angry side chic, the oppressed daughter-in-law, the cuckolded 'horzband'. Imagine 30 comments from 30 angry people!!
I used to read and just laugh and laugh and always thought to myself 'there's gotta be more to blogging thingy than this' but I never did anything about it until that random day back in January when I wrote my first post.
Anyway sorry to go O.P. (Off point) There I was listening to the above captioned tune by Tupac Shakur (It is a masterpiece!!!) last week, it's an old time fav of mine that I had not listened to it in a while. I then had a light bulb moment and thought I should do a review on it, but you know what?? Tupac is totally out of my league!! The more I listened to this tune, the less I understood what he was rapping about! I'll stick to what I know best ie Fela in the future thank you! See here.
I was tempted to call my rap-obsessed brother to enlighten me, but that wouldn't have been very original would it? And title of this post is self explanatory though, wouldn't you say?
Well this is how this one goes down, there I was talking with my Sis From Another Mother, we've got to give her name as she's started to feature quite a bit in my posts! So let's call her "Clara" she soooo likes jist and a good gossip! (Who doesn't?) Anyway, this week we started talking about an incident where by we had someone we know trying to play humble pie. Boy oh boy, I wish I could go into details over this 'incident' unfortunately in line with keeping to the 'We must respect your privacy' policy, I can't.
Anyway one thing led to another before we we knew it we were on that our slippery slope! She was telling me what she had stumbled on one of her contacts Facebook page. This said person had on a t-shirt with the inscription "Jesus is my Sugar Daddy".
As Clara zooms in to make sure she had read right, before the twinkling of an eye the proud wearer of this t-shirt had 20 likes on Facebook!!! And comments followed, 'You killed it babe' "Preach it sister" "Tell them, that's how it's done"
Clara said she was so tempted to ask the girl "Like seriously? Don't you think this is a bit blasphemous?" But found herself in a somewhat awkward position as majority of the FB comments saw nothing wrong with the inscripted T-shirt.
With this Aunty 'purportedly' declaring her love for God and everyone too scared to query the inappropriate blasphemous nature of the message. I mean why would any person liken JESUS to a Sugar daddy?? Let's think about this, what is the definition of a Sugar Daddy?? In a bid to be 'creative' this is a classic example of people being somewhat foolish even if their intentions are good!!
We pondered over these so called messages that 'certain people' feel by doing, they are totally submissive to God. And we have such utterances everywhere, people update their Whatsapp, BBM and whatever social media outlet status with such statements.
Another example "My Father may I constantly be your Foolish Thing"... This is someone's WhatsApp statement. Discuss-enlighten me please! What does this mean? It's almost like there is a competition to prove who loves God more.
Can't people keep it simple? Isn't there a more respectful way of putting one's adoration across? This spiritual arrogance really needs to stop. As for those TMI (Too much Information) personal profiles from which we can 'gauge' the posters life situation, Is it 'under must'???"
Less is really more. It's 'attention seeking' simples! or trying to get people interested in the drama going on in one's life! Phoning a friend is an option or better still take it to The Lord in prayer!
From there myself and Clara move on to 'Those' 'If you love God texts" for the sake of clarity "If you love God texts" are those chain emails, texts, Whatsapp or BB broadcasts that are forwarded to you, consisting of a message that attempts to convince you to copy, paste and then pass on to as many recipients as possible. In reality the chain can never be sustained.
Common methods used in chain texts include emotionally manipulative stories and they usually end on the note that if you fail to forward the chain text an evil will before 'one'. You find that people out of fear forward these chains on. Sad thing is most of these mail have Christian 'spin' on them, this makes people feel even more obliged to forward. For maximum effect though when these fake chains are being circulated some people will now attribute the name of a 'Daddy Pastor' to the chain for further credence!
Myself and Clara both agree that these junk mail belong in the trash can, we do feel sorry for more vulnerable people though, that just cannot not muster the courage to delete and forget about such chains. Some people live in fear and Clara tells me a colleague of hers, rushes to the toilet as soon as she receives such texts to quickly 'off load' the chain to the first 10 or 20 people on her contacts list!! Sorry for all those her contacts with name beginning with early part of the alphabet! I tell Clara that if that was me I'd call her and warn her seriously to stop cluttering my in-box, but she explains her colleague had a genuine fear.
Why is it that when it comes to the issue of one's faith 'our people' really feel obliged to explain their actions and to be answerable to mere mortals rather than 'God'
A friend was telling me on a Sunday that she does not go to church, she feels the pressure. I ask 'Feel the pressure like how?'. She says back in the day on a Sunday if she was unable to go to church, she found every conversation had the casual question, How was church today?' thrown in. She admits that at times she would say 'fine' (even though she hadn't gone!) but has now found a way to deal with such 'enquiries', she has a default reply of 'I did not go' even when she has gone! Some friends, she claims would have the effrontery to ask 'why not' and her reply is now 'personal reasons'. I laugh out loud and ask 'why would you say you've not gone to church when you've gone' she says because she just wants the 'naysayers' out of her business. I'm like 'fair enough'.
I must admit, that I too on occasion have been known to splutter and splatter when I'm posed with the loaded question 'how was church today?' So guys any of you asking me this question on a Sunday, mind yourselves ok!
And to further buttress my point as I'm just rounding up this post, I get a call from a friend, she asks me whether I've watched the musical video 'Godwin' by Korede Bello, she's been trying to get me into this song for months, I tell her for the umpteenth time, that the song does nothing for me! It's a victory song giving God all the glory. The lyrics are 'OK', but that's about it, to me it's just another 'funky' Naija artist trying to jump on the Christian music market bandwagon with minimum effort. My friend suggests the reason why I don't like the song is because I don't have a relationship (with God) !!! I gulp and ask her 'Friend, seriously? Because I don't like a particular 'Christian' song that means I don't have a relationship with God?!!' At this point she tells me she was joking. Friend, likewise I hope as you read this squirming on your seat, praying that I don't name-and-shame you, that you likewise know I'm also 'joking' :-)
(Trick of the trade: Throw the shade/insult, insert smiley face emoticon, say 'no offence meant' and/or state you were joking to cover your tracks!!)
On that note guys have a good weekend and make sure you go to church on Sunday <insert smiley face>

I remember back in the day when I used to receive these Christian chain messages ..... I used to whip myself into a frenzy. I almost killed my self I won't lie to you. I would frantically send them on as an act of obedience . But to whom? I ended up send to the 15 or however number the chain message required and more. The wages of sin is death. I didn't want to die. Now I'm older and wiser. Send me a chain message, I simply ignore.
But people really over do christanity generally: JESUS YOU ARE MY SUGAR DADDY. O ga o! What is a sugar daddy? A man well past his sell by date, with more money than brains who has successfully pulled for the sole purpose of sexual gratification. There is no physical or mental attraction, purely financial. So how and where does Jesus fit this bill? He doesn't!
Reminds me of the joke about a nigerian in a lift, quite naturally people just getting into the lift ask if the lift is going up , the standard answer to this is either yes or no but the Christian answer is .... Yes it is going up to the Glory of God.
I will be in church tomoorrow by the Grace of God.
Praise The Lord o!
We thank God for your life! Hope no problem for delay.
You have written a lot - I have to read it again. But I agree with you Nigerians have bastardised Christianity
I will be back with my comment!.
What about names of churches eg
'Guided Missile Ministry'
I luv nandos
I am a Muslim and i love Christianity, as long as you respect my religion the way you respect yours there will be no problems. For any human being to refer to God or Jesus or Allah as their sugar daddy is blasphemous and the highest level of disrespect to our Higher Being.
What on earth could make any one think along that line, is this the way we honour our Gracious God? I am unsure of what is going on, but it seems something is seriously wrong with us and the society in general. I may be ignorant because I am a Muslim but it has never for once crossed my mind to refer to God as sugar daddy. To me, this is just so inappropriate and unacceptable. Who am I to judge. I guess we view God Almighty in different ways. I will never refer to my Lord God as Sugar Daddy. This should not be debatable however cos we are not in a position to judge anyone it has become a topic for discussion. This just sucks on every level you can think of. I am trying not to judge but finding it difficult.
To be honest, I am not bothered by chain messages that I receive on a daily basis. Funny enough, I do read them, if they are worthy of passing on and there are lessons to be learned I will pass on if not I will delete and ignore. I do not feel compelled to pass on and I do not make it a point of duty to pass on. I am blessed and highly favoured, like the Christians will say. I am blessed every blessed minute even when these messages are not passed on. No one can make me do what I am not keen on doing, apart from God Almighty.
There are various ways one can declare ones love for God, referring to God as ones sugar daddy, in my opinion is not one of them. As we are not meant to be judgemental, this is just my humble opinion.
Still can't get over the nonsense of any one liken GOD to a sugar daddy. That is real nonsensical, not judgemental. Sorry just can't help but feel this way about this nonsense.
GOD ALMIGHTY is the easiest and simplest to worship. God is so easy, he does not require or need fuss. All that God wants from us I'd to ask and he will give. Pray and your prayers will be heard. Just that simple. What is the need for disrespect? I don't know. Religion is a sensitive topic that I don't indulge, however, I just can't help but say how I feel. People are entitled to their views and opinion but that comment, for me, is just unacceptable to put it mildly, considering that it is Ramadan and I am fasting. I will leave it this way. God help us all. Ameen.
There are too many mini gods in our mosques and churches. People are confused as to who their God is. Mummy and Daddy pastors. Mummy and daddy Imam. There is one and only one God. He is up there. You do not need any imam in the mosque or mummy or daddy in church to get to him. Call him in the toilet, on the train, at your desk, in your kitchen, in your bed and he is quick to respond. He does not need to be advertised as sugar daddy. God does not respond to such nonsense. I pray occasionally, most times when I am in need, not proud of that but I can tell you I am so blessed. Not sure why God is so good to me but I am forever grateful for his blessings. I don't deserve it. "olorun lo mo eni ti o n sin owun o. RBN please translate. Thanks
Very sensitive subject. No offence to anyone who does not agree with my comments. This is just how I feel.. bless you all. Inshallah Allah. Ameen. IJN. Amen.

God save us all. E wo in ti "Guided Missile Ministry". May be they are dealing in Weapons of Mass Destruction. Who are these for. Olorun gab wa o. I better notify UN to check them out o.
Are the guided missiles for the Devil Or who?
This is real serious matter and sensitive topic. I will not talk to much but please can all those people that send me daily fire and brimstone broadcasts stop. It is so infair 5am my phone will pim pim incoming message bs someone will be preaching at me their own interpretation of a bible passage. Which this usually misquote. And the worse part is out of sensitivity am never bold enough to tell the person to stop as I dont want to be label as a sinner. . I have my daily devotion for that and may wish to subscribe to daily message online.
Just because you comit a different type of sin than me stop pretending to be flawless madam or Mr preacher.
Let's be sensible.
Risi do not expect many comments on this posts people will b scared.
"If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything"
This is what is happening in the church today. There has been so much conformation over the years, that some ignorant person can refer to Jesus as a "sugar daddy" and get likes on FB.
things have definitely fallen apart!
......... And the centre cannot hold. Na wa o.
RBN I hope you received my 4am early morning bible reading for the day?. I also hope you are going to church this morning.
:-)
I just could not resist that.
Dear New Anonymous,
Church was fine thank you, what's your preferred proof of evidence of my attendance?
Forensic or photographic?
RBN. It costs nothing to share so please pass this message to 8 of your friends............
Sometimes when I read these messages I wonder if there was no faith or good things didn't happen before mobile phones
Prophetess Alhaja Risikatu.
This is an interesting topic.
In regards to those texts, I usually send them back to the senders alone.
And I rarely listen to people when they talk about Church and religion as most are hypocrites (some are genuine and most have hidden agendas). It pains my heart when people fall victim of these pests and let themselves be misled.
God Bless Us All
Amen

so to the matter at hand. I have exhausted the level of my patience with those chain texts. I thought we left it behind in primary school, but lo and behold it raises its ugly head almost 40years later.(yes I am that,OLD!)
What makes it worse is that some powerful messages get lost in all the shenanigans, as the message gets deleted by most people.
Church has done full circle, back to the day when it was a family ritual on Sunday. People ask if you have gone to church just to ensure you have fulfilled all righteosness for the day and the balance of the universe is restored.
Actually I'm sure they ask the question to affirm their self righteousness.
By the way how was Church yesterday?
I read the messages and ignore. These people put you on a guilt trip as if you do not know God. Also I agree that there is TMI being circulated. Tola
Before now I usually get irritated and angry about the chain texts, BB broadcast which end on the note that if you fail to forward the chain text an evil will befall one and would wonder why a friend will forward such to me. I have overcome my anger by ignoring and deleting it.
Nigerians are very “religious” people and overdo things generally. There is a saying that Nigerians practiced christianity to the extent of being seen to be more catholic than the Pope.
However my view on this issue is that we all view God in different ways. Jesus means different thing to different people. I will not want to commend or condemn the person who called God “sugar daddy”. The person alone knows his/her reason for calling God that. He/she may not mean it in the context of the dictionary definition of sugar daddy, that is, an elderly man lavishing money on young woman. It could be in context of likening God to a sweet person, like sugar, honey etc. Probably God has been taking care of his/her financial needs in an unexplainable way. To me God, my provider would have been sufficient. But just like you said l think the person was trying to be creative. We should let him/her be. God alone knows those who truly worship Him. He alone can discern the thoughts and intents of our hearts.
Trust Nigerian churches to take things several notches up
Yesterday, was Father's Day. The pastor said all the women in the church should stand. We did. He then said all the women in the church should hug as many fathers in the church as we possibly could. I really prefer " turn to your neighbour and say...,.,". However.....
In the spirit of things I reluctantly joined in. Not really keen on hugging strange brothers in church.
I hugged a few keeping a keen eye on mine! You know our Christian sisters ...... Always in the sprit!!
Everything strangely wonderful starts in church! Abi I lie?
FTA
I totally disagree with you and I think your response to that "irresponsible somebody" eith the t- shirt is dangerous.
There can be no possible positive intent to calling Jesus a "Sugar Daddy"
Please lets call a spade a spade and a farming implement.
The truth is not palatable but it is the TRUTH!
We must not shy away from it and that is not being judgemental!
The subject of this discuss makes me think of "sunkunmus riranmus" aka ti eyan ban sunkun a ma ri iran (when you cry you can still see through the tears)
Whilst I bewail the gross ignorance of my people, I also consider the consequences for the future.
Our children, what legacy of faith are we leaving them? (hence my complete disagreement with FTA @ 11.38)
Is it one of a loving God to be honoured, praised and adored or one of an arm twisting and blackmailing God?
Anonymous @ 12.08
You don't need to do everything Pastor says especially if you don't agree with it or it is not scriptural. You are right; hugging men randomly in Church may be a step too far. In Church does not make it holy or acceptable.
Personally I don't say Amen to all prayers!!
I remember one MOG (man of God) asked us to say to the our neighbour "God will bless me first" sounds fairly harmless until your neighbour says it to you and you realise you are an afterthought to God because he is blessing someone else first!
Without judging the individual who referred to Jesus as her sugar daddy; I think that expression was very inappropriate and immoral. Now it is okay to simply acknowledge Jesus as one's generous benefactor and leave it at that. The reference of a sugar daddy makes me picture a rich older man who is being "used" by a younger woman and who in turn spends lavishly on her in return for favours (typically sexual).
That expression suggests that the lady in question is some kind of gold digger because that is what "sugar babies" are.
The problem is that a lot of laissez faire philosophy is adopted in most pentecostal churches and they obviously don't know where to draw the line. This they justify by stating that in the "presence of God there is liberty". So in other words, in the presence of God "anything goes". Just like the age-long orthodox churches, I think worshipping God should be done with solemnity and reverence. Just my opinion anyway.
@ anon. 12:08
Eya sorry o
So how many sister's got to 'tap current' from your own man or better still how many did he manage to hug.
Hope did not have to disentangle him from anybody arms when pastor called time out?
LMAO!!!!!!!!
Oyinde @ 20.03
Hear! Hear!
Anonymous @ 12.08
you said it.
I was being uncharacteristically PC and didn't want to suggest some "current tap" might have occurred, LOL
All I am saying is WWJD?
Oyinade you are right when you say a sugar daddy is a generous benefactor to a good cause or charity. Is it not possible that not all people think that sugar daddy has to do with sexual favors. Just because most of us think that way does not mean we should exclude any other meaning of the word.
Maybe the girl felt she was a charity case and God had been good to her.
In response to 22.31. The dictionary defines sugar daddy as "a man who provides money or other favours in exchange for sexual relations".
Surely this is not the case with a lot of us who have contributed to this debate.
Hi aunty Moji,
I personally think and have observed the frenzy about whch people try to outdo themselves in the name of loving God.My pain however is that i dont get to see same in them loving the next perso genuinely! So much for church activities and no personal space for God.
Enough of all the silly rantings in the name of proving you love God.If you do show it by loving people!
im out of here!
Hot love!
